The Animated Bayeux Tapestry
The Bayeux Tapestry was made about the year 1075, and tells the story of the Norman Conquest, when William the Conqueror sailed from Normandy, France, to England. He killed Harold, King of England, and made himself king. Animation, music and translation of the text from the original Latin were added to this video to make it come alive. The tapestry, which still exists today, is over 230 feet long, and is one of the treasures of the Middle Ages.
History Channel on the Black Plague
The Black Plague, or the Bubonic Plague, killed millions of people during the Middle Ages. In most cases, death came within a few days of the onset of symptoms, which included bleeding, black sores, high fever and painful joints. Many in the Middle Ages, because they did not understand medicine or the human body or the chain of disease, believed the plague was a punishment from God for man's sins.
